Alessio Lisci: “We controlled the game, but we are dumbfounded by what happened to Iker”

The Italian coach addresses the media after Sant Jordi's match against Osasuna

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci spoke to the media following the match between Sant Jordi and Osasuna. He was asked about defender Iker Benito’s injury.

“We don’t know the severity of Iker’s injury, but it seems to be related to the knee. Beyond the fact that we are short-staffed, we are primarily concerned about the person. We will wait for the test results, but we are dumbfounded by what happened at the end of the match,” Lisci said.

Regarding the game, Lisci commented, “I think the players had a good performance; they gave their all, and they should be satisfied with their efforts. We knew that with the excitement surrounding the match, we would be pressed, but we managed it well. When we were able to play the ball from the back, we created danger.”

He added, “It always seems straightforward, but considering the condition of the field and the balls, our team first needs to adapt to these new circumstances. It’s true we could have taken the lead earlier; Raúl García had two clear chances, and Iker had another inside the box. We could have scored sooner. However, it’s normal for these things to happen with all the rotations at the start of the game. The important part was for us to grow as the game progressed, and from there, I think we played well.”
